MEXICO BULLETIN
Sept-Oct 2006
C.C.T (CROSS-CULTURAL TRAINING SCHOOL)

Opening time for the Cross-Cultural School (CCT) is upon us! We had the inauguration ceremony on 26th August to which a total of 137 people came, including several local pastors and other interested people. Then classes began on 4th September with our orientation week. All eight students (two couples, three single men and a single lady) arrived safely and are settling in. Please pray for Ed and Debbie Somerville, Ok Soon Sohn and Jenny Knight of the WEC team as the CCT staff, plus Areli Arellano and associate workers Steve and Jan Griswell who will all be teaching in the first semester; also for a Mexican couple, Juan Carlos and Eli Gómez, who will be coming on the staff team from November and Mike Burnam who is still working on communicating with outside speakers during his time in Europe. Do please pray, too, for Jenny and Ok Soon as they have moved from Cuernavaca to live on site. Finally, please pray for the 8 students, for the Lord to prepare each one and provide for them, and that God might be glorified in all that is done.
First Candidate Orientation
Mark and Caroline Asp (former team-mates and USA Candidate Directors) said: "We thank God and the Mexico team for the opportunity to help with the first candidate orientation of the Mexico Sending Base. It was great to see team members and old friends at Príncipe de Paz Baptist and Palabra Viva (formerly Iglesia del Señor), and in COMIMEX. It was a blessing and personally fulfilling to have several people on various occasions say that 'Hacia el Mundo Entero' (a book on missions that Mark wrote) had been a blessing or that it was used of God to get them into world missions. Three of the candidates were either students of mine in UCAN or members of our home church in Cuernavaca. Overall, we are content with the first candidate orientation in Mexico and believe that it went well. There were 6 candidates; all of them were acceptable, although several have some conditions to fulfill".
We are thankful to God for the great help and strong support that the Asps have given us. They were a blessing to us. Often times, one doesn't see the result of one's ministry and only after some years that one reaps the sowing.
Mike, Bonnie and family are on their "tour" to Europe doing an internship with the International Office and visiting several Sending Bases. Do pray for them and all that they can learn from them.
Ricky and Ivy appreciate prayers as they lead the team and learn the ropes of Sending Base ministry. Different team members are experiencing illnesses, challenges and new ministry opportunities. We need more workers too.

Grace: She is in USA receiving medical tests for her weak body. Pray for accurate test and proper treatment. Priscila will attend Kindergarden in PA, USA.
Ministry Centre.
Debbie wrote: The Ministry Centre, El Monte, praises the Lord loudly for great encouragement and hard work received from the summer's work teams and individuals. These teenagers, families, skilled workers and technicians came from both coasts of the USA, and Holland. We are jumping up and down to hear several of them respond to God's call for them in missions! Thank you for your continued prayers for permits and resources to begin our construction. Phase 1 will include student apartments, staff housing and a recreational area. Praise God we currently have the students and staff for CCT.
Pruett and Linda Burnam: Give glory to God for the great team they had from their church, Monte Vista Chapel, in Turlock, California, USA. They really did a lot of work for the CCT, building 8 desks and constructing an area for an office. They also rewired a large staff house, and did various other things for El Monte.
Darren Saldubehere asks for prayer for the discipleship and drama ministry. "I coordinate here in Cuernavaca together with our local church, Armonia Familiar Cristiana (Christian Family Harmony). We just did a performance for another church's VBS, and it went great! I am really excited about the possibilities the Lord has for us with this drama group, and He has opened the doors for me to get into their lives and do some true discipleship. However, the enemy is active and right now my wife Judith, my son David, my daughter Rachel, and myself (Darren) have all been flattened by the flu. More seriously, our visa renewal process has been dragging on and on for no good reason, so please pray for the LORD's intervention in these two situations so that we can concentrate on helping our church."
Areli: is praising the Lord for the big outreach in Misantla and Isla de Chapa-Chapa, Veracruz. Please pray for many upcoming Conferences and workshops they are organizing in Mexico City: September 30 conference E.T.M, October 28 Mission conference. Also Areli is giving 5 courses in two Bibles Institutes and the C.C.T. Pray for God's provision for her ministry and good health.
Thank you for your faithful prayers!
God bless you.
